Editorial Policy
Ledgerwise publishes educational content about small business accounting and finance. Our goal is to be accurate, clear, and useful. This policy describes how we work.
Independence and affiliate disclosure
Some articles include affiliate links to accounting software and related tools. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, Ledgerwise may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We only feature products our editors have reviewed and consider relevant to the topic. Affiliate relationships do not influence editorial conclusions: rankings, criticism, and recommendations are made by editors before any commercial arrangement is considered. We do not accept payment for favorable coverage.
Sourcing
We rely on primary sources wherever possible: the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and official publications from comparable bodies. Every article includes a sources section.
Writing
Articles are written by editors with practical accounting experience. We write in plain language, define terms on first use, and prefer structured explanations (lists, tables, step-by-step breakdowns) over narrative when it improves clarity.
Review
Every article is reviewed by a credentialed accounting professional before publication. Reviewers check factual accuracy, conformance to current rules, and clarity of explanation. The reviewer is named on the article.
Updates
Tax law, accounting standards, and best practices change. We review published articles at least annually and update them when underlying rules or facts change. The "last updated" date on each article reflects the most recent substantive review.
Corrections
If you find an error, please email corrections@ledgerwise.example. We review correction requests within 48 hours and publish substantive corrections with a note on the article.
Limits of our content
Ledgerwise content is general education. It is not financial, tax, or legal advice for any specific person or business. For individual situations, consult a licensed professional.
